Welcome to Chancefield, a name thought to mean ‘a happy or fortunate place’. The Centre for Stewardship is committed to creating a living, learning and working landscape, utilising the Forest of Falkland as a place of good practice in forest stewardship and woodland culture. Our stewardship involves putting long-term sustainability at the heart of all we do.
Look up through the trees to find these high sandstone buttresses exposed since the last ice age. From the upper viewpoint you can look for red squirrels in the top of the pines and take in the views across the upper Eden valley.
Mostly uneven rocky forestry road with a section of firm gravel path. Some gentle to moderate slopes
